ABOUT CITY MOUNTAINEERING
Manchester's best and most exciting mountaineering group.
This is a group for anyone interested in walking, hiking, rock climbing, camping and anyone with a sense of adventure to experience the wonders of the British mountain environment in a relaxed, fun and safe manner.
Our purpose is simple: To provide access to the British mountain environment for all. Irrelevant of social, economic and cultural background and irrelevant of your mountain/hiking experience: All skill levels are welcome.
This group was started to offer more adventurous trips, with small groups, from Manchester to all areas of the UK.
Summary of what to expect on City Mountaineering trips:
• All trips are lead by passionate, qualified and highly experienced mountaineers (Qualified Mountain Leaders and Climbing Instructors)
• All trips, unless otherwise stated, are fully inclusive of return travel, food, accommodation and guided hiking (all you have to do is turn up at Maidenhead station and enjoy!)
• Small group sizes (maximum 8 people per trip), this enables:
> • Best quality support
> • Trip flexibility (to provide a true wilderness experience)
> • Get to know your fellow mountaineers better than in larger groups
> • Allow you to realise potential that you may never have thought possible
> • Reduce the human impact on the natural environment

Scrambling/Hiking in The Lake District
Manchester Piccadilly, Piccadilly Station Approach, Manchester, GBThis trip will involve hiking the lesser travelled areas of The Lake District.
The specific location will be communicated when you have signed up, but we will be taking grade 1 scrambling routes up some very well known peaks in the region.
Small group!! (Maximum 8-people)
Return Train Travel, Mountain Transfers, Food, Accommodation and Guided hiking all included in the cost - Just turn up at the pre-determined point in Manchester and enjoy!
This trip is suitable for everyone and no prior experience is necessary and the small group size will enable us to enjoy the tranquility of the area whilst enabling a flexible itinerary to explore the hidden gems that The Lake District has to offer.

Itinerary
Please note that exact timings and order of activities are subject to change, based on the local conditions at the time
Friday - Meet outside Manchester Piccadilly train station at 7pm for a relaxing train journey to The Lake District. Upon arrival, we will check in to our hostel accommodation (exclusive use, single-sex bedrooms) for the evening and have a pre-trip briefing before heading to bed
Day 1 – Saturday
We will head out in to the mountains for a day of scrambling fun :)
Specific routes and area to be communicated after joining the trip.
We will then return to our accommodation in the heart of The Lake District and enjoy dinner and a drink in the local pub
Day 2 – Sunday
A hike & scramble ascent of another local peak before heading back to the train station for a departure back to Manchester.

Trek Snowdon weekend
Manchester Piccadilly, Piccadilly Station Approach, Manchester, GB2-days in Snwodonia National Park. We will hike two for two full days including the ascent of Snowdon (a little known route, away from the crowds)

ITINERARY
Please note that exact timings and order of activities are subject to change, based on the local conditions at the time.Day 0 - Friday evening
- Meeting outside Manchester Piccadilly train station at 7pm, you will board the train for a relaxing journey to Snowdonia.
- You will be met at the train station and transported into the national park before checking-in to your cozy accommodations and to take some time to settle in and get to know your fellow travellers.
Day 1 - Saturday: Snowdon, The quiet way
- Opting for quieter, less-traveled routes, we'll embark on a scenic ascent that allows us to fully immerse ourselves in the tranquility of Snowdonia's landscapes.
- Take in breathtaking views as we climb steadily towards the summit, enjoying the beauty of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
- Reach the summit of Snowdon and savor the sense of achievement as you gaze out over the stunning vistas stretching across the park.
- Descend via a different route, offering new perspectives and opportunities to appreciate the diverse terrain of Snowdonia.
- Return to your accommodations for a well-deserved rest and relaxation over a hearty pub dinner after a day of exploration.
Day 2 - Sunday: Conquer Cnicht
- Fuel up with breakfast before we tackle our next adventure: the ascent of Cnicht, often referred to as the "Matterhorn of Wales" due to its distinctive shape.
- Set off on a picturesque hike through charming valleys and tranquil forests as we make our way towards the base of Cnicht.
- Begin the ascent of Cnicht, enjoying the challenge of its rocky slopes and rewarding views along the way.
- Reach the summit and revel in the panoramic vistas of Snowdonia's peaks and valleys spread out before you.
- Take time to celebrate your accomplishment before beginning your descent back to civilization.
- At the end of the day you will be transported back to the train station for a leisurely train journey back to Manchester (expect to arrive at 8pm)
- Bid farewell to Snowdonia, filled with memories of stunning landscapes and shared adventures.

DIFFICULTY: This trip is designed to be a moderate 2-days in Snowdonia. The routes are straight forward but some steep uphill and downhill hiking is unavoidable. A reasonable level of fitness is expected, but you don't need to be a super-athlete to join this trip.Your qualified guide is highly experienced enough to keep the pace slow and everyone happy, safe and motivated throughout the trip

- Pub Dinner: After a day of hiking, you'll head out for a delicious dinner at a traditional local pub, sharing stories and enjoying the warm atmosphere.
Monday: Discovering the Langdale Valley
- Breakfast: Another hearty breakfast to start the day.
- Hike: Again, the specific route will not be confirmed until the weather forecast is known. Your guide may provide you with a few options from hills to lakes, rivers and hidden waterfalls. This is your weekend and we want you to go home after having the best possible experiences
- Return Journey: You'll transfer back to the train station for your return journey to Manchester, filled with wonderful memories of our weekend in the Lake District (expect to arrive in London at around 9pm)
