This is organized by St. Paul-Reformation Lutheran Church
I'm sharing this because it's essential to understand Christian Nationalism from the perspective of other Christians.
It is the last session for the book "Blessed". I have attended without reading the books and have found the book club informative.
Next week, there is an event for Rise UP "Foundation" at 12. In the following weeks, we can have coffee after the book club.
(Don't have to feel obligated to attend the church service at 10:30.
Congregation will welcome you to.)

For the autumn months, SPR will read three books together in efforts to understand - and confront - White Christian Nationalism.

Sunday Morning Forum
September 21, October 5 & 12
Blessed: A History of the American Prosperity Gospel
Kate Bowler

The first of the three books we will be reading together is “Blessed: A History of the American Prosperity Gospel.” The merging of religion and politics begins with the merging of religion and wealth, and Kate Bowler’s thinking lays the foundations for the second and third books in our series. Join us for one…or all, of the four sessions.

October 19 & 26, November 2 & 9
Bring Back Your People: Ten Ways Regular Folks Can Put A Dent in Christian Nationalism
Aaron Scott

The second of these is “Bring Back Your People: Ten Ways Regular Folks Can Put a Dent in White Christian Nationalism.” Christian people are called to confront twisted readings of the Gospel that harm neighbor, and Aaron Scott gives us practical tips on how to do it. Led by SPR member Carla Hagen.

November 16, 23, & 30, December 7
Disciples of White Jesus: The Radicalization of American Boyhood
Angela Denker
The third of these books is “Disciples of White Jesus: The Radicalization of American Boyhood.” In this book, author Angela Denker examines how racism, masculinity, and religion mix together in dangerous ways, creating the toxic brew of White Christian Nationalism.
