This month we're partnering with Gender Equity Tech to offer a joint event with guest speaker Dr Leia Minaker! Please check the agenda below as it differs slightly from our usual hacknight.
This is a ticketed event!

$5 - Bring your own dinner
$15 - Dinner will be provided
$25 - Bring a friend, and both of you get dinner
$10 - Kids dinner (childminding provided)
Childminding
Bring your kids! Childminding is available in our playroom on the 2nd floor with an experienced caregiver. Children 1 and older can have their own GET together in our childminding space. Our childminder, Jasmin, will supervise the children in our playroom. You must remain in the building and available to respond if the childminder contacts you. There is an eating area so you can pack a dinner for your child(ren) or purchase a dinner ticket for them.

6:10pm - 6:30pm: Leia Minaker, Director of the Future Cities Institute
Leia Minaker is the Director of the Future Cities Institute at the University of Waterloo, and an Associate Professor in the School of Planning in the Faculty of Environment. She holds a PhD in Public Health and her research focuses on designing cities to improve health, with a focus on urban food systems and urban design for mental health.
Her talk is titled Building Tomorrow: Collaborative Research-Driven Solutions for the Future City.
6:30 - 6:45pm: Pitches
A structured spin on networking. What topic or project do you want to talk about? Pitch it to the group or choose the pitch that appeals to you. We'll self-organize around the topics that inspire each of us for conversation and collaboration.
6:45 - 7:45pm: Breakout groups
Decide which project interests you and join that breakout group. As a team, you decide where to take it from there.
7:45pm - 8:00pm: Event wrap-up
We'll reconvene to report back to the group on our conversations and wrap things up.
8:00pm: Childminding closed
Please pick up your kids!
OPTIONAL post-event hangout
You're welcome to stick around to continue the conversations. Bring your own drinks; we usually have snacks to share!
