Mapping Urban Wireless Networks To Open Innovation

For October CivicTechYYC we are pleased to welcome a presentation on the success of IN-FLIGHT Data and AirMatrix with their work flying drones to help map wireless networks around Calgary.

In the realm of drone technology where innovation meets urban challenges, Canadian companies AirMatrix and IN-FLIGHT Data have joined forces to pioneer groundbreaking solutions. Drones, once relegated to military and recreational spheres, are now emerging as essential tools, from medical deliveries to emergency services. Yet, integrating drones into densely populated urban environments requires meticulous planning, prioritizing safety, privacy, and efficiency. AirMatrix brings precision to urban airspace mapping and IN-FLIGHT Data brings expertise in Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems and Artificial Intelligence. Through Calgary's Living Labs program, the teams found the path to an ideal real-world testing environment. As a result, the projects achieved success in conducting complex urban signals mapping operations, contributing to safer navigation and communication in the airspace above our communities.
