Overview:

Governments around the world are investing billions of dollars into quantum technologies, which have the potential to disrupt many industries including fintech, energy, transportation and logistics, communications, and health care, just to name a few. Quantum tech uses quantum properties and materials, such as atoms, ions, photons, or superconducting circuits, to do a task (i.e. computing, sensing, secure communication). Business leaders are looking for a way to stay ahead of the curve, maintain market position, and gain a competitive advantage. This talk is about how this can be achieved through quantum technologies, and explains what is quantum without assuming a technical background.

Speaker Bios:

Katanya Kuntz, PhD: Dr. Katanya B. Kuntz is co-founder and CEO of Qubo Consulting Corp, and a Research Associate at the Institute for Quantum Computing, University of Waterloo, Canada. Her main role with IQC is the QEYSSat Science Team Coordinator for Canada’s first quantum satellite mission: Quantum EncrYption and Science Satellite (QEYSSat). Katanya has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia, 2013, and BSc in Physics from the University of Calgary, 2008. She is a renowned experimental quantum physicist and frequently does outreach to promote quantum physics, and the QEYSSat mission. Most recently she gave a talk to elementary school students about Photons in Space. Katanya is an excellent public speaker, where she is known for explaining difficult concepts in easy-to-understand language.

A. J. Sikora, BEd, BMgt: A.J. Sikora is co-founder and the Chief Learning Officer of Qubo Consulting Corp., and an Edupreneur with experience in business, teaching, and coaching. After spending the last decade as an educator with the Calgary Catholic School District, A.J. now helps organizations to become quantum ready. Through his experiences, A.J. has gained a unique perspective about education and knows how to explain difficult concepts to people by building on their prior knowledge and utilizing certain educational principles. His specialty is making education interesting and meaningful, while focusing on the key information and how it relates to stakeholders. A.J. holds degrees in Management (BMgt International Management, University of Lethbridge, 2005) and Education (BEd Career and Technology Studies: Business Focus, Minor: Spanish, University of Lethbridge, 2012). During his studies, A.J. went on exchange to Guadalajara, México, and completed a summer course at the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain.
