For January CivicTechYYC we are working with our Partner Meetup groups for a Mega Meetup event on the evening on January 15th at the central Calgary Library!

The Mega Meetup connects multiple tech communities in a day of creative coalition making, networking, and learning from each other in Calgary's tech space. The goal is to break down barriers, de-commission some silos, and build a more vibrant tech ecosystem.

At the Mega Meetup, you’ll meet new people from other groups in the tech industry, grow your network, and expand your horizons and be part of shaping the future of technology in Calgary.

CivicTechYYC will be taking part helping to host a panel discussion after the main keynote:

Rethinking “Build Now, Test Later”: Embedding Inclusive Design with User Testing & Accessibility

User Testing and Accessibility are a core aspect of the design of modern services and yet are increasingly done at the end of projects or as an afterthought. This creates challenges and barriers for people with diverse backgrounds and needs, especially when attempting to access and use products and services. As technology becomes more essential, so does the need to improve user designs by embedding inclusive design into products and services while considering equity and diversity.

Join our panel discussion where we will discuss experiences working in user testing and accessibility, providing insights into how you can contribute to the efforts to make services more accessible.
Hosted by Ross Plattel from CivicTechYYC with panelists Uriel Karerwa from IncluCity Calgary, Paula Madeira from the City of Calgary, and Lavanya Mohan and Kate Bazunova from The Test Tribe.
