What is intelligence – in humans and machines?
Details
We have discussed the definition and types of intelligence before, (in 2015 we did definition for example), but CivCon has never explored the relationship of machine intelligence to human intelligence.
Join Civilized Conversation on Monday 3/17 at the usual place and time (Panera Cafe 5620 Balboa, 7pm.). This is a very well-ploughed topic, and I don't know how to recognize the better material. So here are just a few background readings that seem useful to me. They deal with either how intelligence is defined in psychology, or how human and machine "intelligence" relate/differ.
Backgrounders -
1. 2019 CivCon mtg - The many problems cognitive biases play in human thinking and decision making.
2. What is human intelligence? Long but thorough.
3. What is artificial intelligence? ABC-level. The meaning of artificial general intelligence remains murky.
4. Computers cannot think, period.
5. The human body is key to true intelligence, and machines will never have them.
