How can the destruction of U.S. democracy be stopped?

Details

Resistance is not futile! President Trump cannot be removed from office, practically. Elected Congressional Republicans may or may not ever stand up to this autogolpe - and many do not even want to. The Supreme Court may or may not take real steps to stop his illegal and unconstitutional accumulation and uses of power. Even an economic collapse may not be enough to pry the MAGA faithful from the dream they had when they voted for him.

But opposition to the gutting of our democracy has begun to organize. In some of our courts and parts of the legal establishment. In higher education, in the business community (quietly for now), and in some of the news media. That is, in many of the societal institutions that must be ground down if the MAGA wing of the Republican Party is to impose permanent minority dictatorial rule on us all.

(No more apologies for telling the truth, except to note this, for the thousandth time. Not all Republicans support what is happening, not all conservative ideas are wrong, and our country had real problems that were not being addressed by the political establishment before Trump came along.)

What can regular people do to oppose dictatorship and defend the regime's targets? A lot has been written and suggested already. Closer to this crucial Civilized Conversation meeting of May 19th, I will link to some of the organizations and activists/influencers that are trying to save our democracy.
