What we’re about
CJFC Hōga Club – Japanese Film & Culture Gatherings in Chicago
Welcome to the CJFC Hōga Club, a community for anyone in Chicago who loves Japanese cinema, culture, and connecting with others through film.
The word hōga (邦画) means Japanese film in Japanese, and this club is all about celebrating that spirit while bringing people together.
Hosted by the Chicago Japan Film Collective (CJFC), our group creates regular opportunities to meet new people, watch movies together, and explore interesting local spots. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Japanese films or just curious to discover more, you’ll find a friendly and open space here.
-We meet once or twice a month for casual gatherings such as:
-Watching Japanese or Japan-related films together
-Visiting theaters and unique cultural venues in Chicago
-Networking with fellow film lovers and creatives
-Exploring hidden gems around the city
While CJFC hosts its main festival annually, Hōga Club brings us together more frequently, in smaller, relaxed settings that build connections and community all year round.
Join us if you’re looking for great films, meaningful conversations, and new friendships rooted in a shared love of cinema.
