Introduction from Goodreads:
In The Power of Habit, award-winning New York Times business reporter Charles Duhigg takes us to the thrilling edge of scientific discoveries that explain why habits exist and how they can be changed. With penetrating intelligence and an ability to distill vast amounts of information into engrossing narratives, Duhigg brings to life a whole new understanding of human nature and its potential for transformation.

Here are some details about the book discussion event:
- We will meet at Le Pain Quotidien (2900 Clarendon Blvd, Arlington, VA 22201).
- This event will be capped at 14 people with a waitlist. Please RSVP to attend. If you sign up but cannot attend the event, please change your RSVP status 12 hours before the event or leave a comment so that members in the waitlist can attend.
- To have a great experience at the discussion, participants are encouraged to read through the book before the meeting, and think about the guided questions posted below. However, we understand that we are all very busy. There is no pressure for participants to finish the book before the discussion.
This book discussion event will last about 90 min. Here is the overall structure:
- Self-introduction, what’s your overall thought about this book? (20 min)
- Guided questions for discussions (60 min):to be updated
------------------------------------
To provide an enjoyable experience for fellow participants, here are three ground rules during book discussion events:
- Step up and step back. (If you feel that you’ve been talking too much, step back to listen more. If you feel that you’ve been relatively quiet, step up to share your perspective or ask a question)
- Listen to understand, not to respond.
- Be open-minded and value differences.
-----------------------------------
note:
- This book club will always be free and will never accept fundraising, sponsorships, or advertising. The only request is that, because we will usually meet at a Clarendon local coffee shop, it will be great if participants can order some drinks or meal items during events.
