My name is Isabel, I've been teaching since 2010 and now I teach Spanish in small groups in Cabanyal, the barrio I live in :)

Course “Español unplugged para false beginners”
Francesc Cubells, Valencia, VC, ES“I’ve been to Spanish lessons already, but I’m not getting enough speaking practice.”
If this is you, trust me, you are not alone!
No textbooks. Just you and your classmates. Something to drink and some (very healthy) crisps. And lots of activities for you to practice speaking.
Mistakes are welcome! We will learn from them! Take this course as a speaking laboratory with minimal technology and materials (hence the unplugged), where the most important aspect is what goes on inside and between the people in the classroom -and speaking 🙂
IN THIS COURSE WE WILL:
- Practice questions about hobbies and (some very unusual) lost property
- Express our opinions about a range of topics
- Practice speaking on the phone (for real!) with a range of businesses and some very friendly bureaucratic people
- Tell each other’s futures with the most advanced and trusted predicting techniques (using the structure "ir a + infinitivo")
- Talk about past experiences (with "pretérito perfecto") and learn a new past tense ("pretérito indefinido") to talk about famous people’s biographies and our own lives.

¡UN PLAN PERFECTO!
Sí, sí, el Cabanyal es un barrio muy “cool” según The Guardian. Pero lo que el periódico británico no sabe es que en este barrio hay unos personajes un poco peculiares: ZOMBIES.
¡Sí, zombies! Están por todas partes: entre las tortillas del bar La Paca, detrás de los puestos del mercadillo de los jueves, escondidos tras el romero de Cabanyal Horta.. ¡Incluso en los apartamentos turísticos!
¿Te gustan las series de zombies? ¿Quieres conocer la serie valenciana “Cabanyal Z”, filmada en el Cabanyal antes de la llegada de los co-livings y el café de especialidad? (Que es mi adicción, la verdad)
¿Te gustaría aprender sobre la historia reciente de este barrio de Valencia y hablar en clase sobre la vida en las ciudades, la política y la corrupción, la convivencia entre diferentes grupos sociales, las drogas y los zombies?

CÓMO FUNCIONA EL CURSO
➡️Antes de cada clase verás un episodio en casa (duran unos 20 minutos y tienen subtítulos en español). Aprenderás sobre la política reciente de Valencia y el barrio del Cabanyal, y verás vocabulario y expresiones coloquiales.
➡️En clase veremos fragmentos del capítulo, comentaremos temas de vocabulario y conversaremos sobre los temas de la serie: gentrificación, política, convivencia en los barrios, lucha social, droga, corrupción, etc.
➡️Para la clase 10, prepararéis preguntas para uno de los creadores de la serie: Joan Alamar. En la clase 11, comentaremos las respuestas de Joan a vuestras preguntas, y reflexionaremos sobre el futuro del Cabanyal y la vida en las ciudades: ¿qué necesita un barrio para ser un barrio?
➡️ La serie tiene 10 episodios, y el curso es de 11 clases.
➡️ Hay dos grupos:
- los jueves por la tarde: de 18 a 19 (del jueves 2 de octubre al jueves 4 de diciembre)
- los viernes por la mañana: de 10 a 11 (del viernes 3 de octubre al viernes 5 de diciembre)
➡️ Nivel de español:
