Wood Turning for Absolute Beginners: Turn a Pen! (2 wks + trial membership)

This two‑day beginner workshop introduces basic wood turning concepts and hands‑on practice. Participants will learn lathe safety, tool identification, sharpening basics, and fundamental spindle cuts on Day 1. Day 2 guides students through the complete process of turning a pen, from blank selection to final assembly, so that each student leaves with a finished pen and a strong wood turning foundation.
Class meets twice: November 15th and November 22nd. For students who are not makerspace members, your $250 class fee includes a one-month trial membership to the makerspace in which you will be able to use lathes you are cleared on. Trial members may also request certification training for the band saw and miter saw so you may makes blanks of your own for additional projects while you are exploring turning. Class requires minimum of two students to run. Trial membership does not include discounts on additional classes. Please arrive half an hour early at 8:30 AM to complete membership forms
