Details
June is Pride Month, so it made sense to spotlight what is arguably the brilliant James Baldwin’s best-known novel. “Giovanni’s Room” follows David, a young American living in Paris who, while his girlfriend is away, begins an affair with an Italian bartender whom he meets at a gay bar. David thus begins a wrenching struggle to define his masculinity and his sexual identity as he juggles his feelings toward both Giovanni and his girlfriend. I read this last year and loved it, and I’m eager to discuss it with everyone. Hope you like it as much!
