"Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc" by Mark Twain

Details

Thanks to Dave for recommending this book! Apparently, Twain was obsessed with Joan of Arc and therefore wrote "Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc," supposedly a memoir by Joan's page Sieur Louis de Conte (not so coincidentally, the same initials as Samuel Langhorne Clemens). Twain considered this work to be his best and most important, to the point that he insisted that each installment of the book published in Harper's Magazine be anonymous so readers would take it seriously.
