"Lucky Jim" by Kingsley Amis
Details
"Lucky Jim" is Kingsley Amis's first and probably best-known novel, a comedy about the trials and tribulations about a lecturer at a provincial English university. Described by Christopher Hitchens as the funniest book of the second half of the 20th century, it skewers artifice, pretension, and provincialism. I've been wanting to read this for a long time, and I'm glad we're doing it now.
