Curse of the Demon (1957) B/W Dana Andrews, Peggy Cummins $7, 5 PM
Details
Here is what Rotten Tomatoes says about this film: "Curse of the Demon (also known as Night of the Demon) holds a perfect 100% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes, based on numerous critic reviews, with a high Audience Score too (around 85%), marking it as a classic horror film beloved by critics for its psychological dread, intelligent scares, and subtle, imaginative terror." This movie does not insult your intelligence by believing the only way to create horror is by the number of body parts you can fling at the screen. Instead, it creates TRUE horror, the kind that comes from within while the suspense and tension builds as Dana Andrews denies the forces coming for his soul. You ever have that dream where something is coming for you and no matter how hard you try you just--can't--get--your--legs--to--move? That's this movie.
Plenty of free street and lot parking. I will be there at 4:30, wearing a white beard and a Cardinals baseball hat. You might opt to buy your tickets online, as this is a small venue and seating is limited. The first five rows of seating are original theatre chairs and a bit uncomfortable. Behind those the seating in cushiony. First come first serve.
