Mina Marie Jelinek is a performer, improviser, composer, scholar, and choral conductor holding awards, prizes, and distinctions to her name. She is a graduate of both The Juilliard School––having studied with Paul Jacobs––and The Eastman School of Music––having studied with David Higgs, Nathan Laube, Edoardo Bellotti and William Porter. She is a former student of both l’École du Chœur Grégorien de Paris and le Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP), where her teachers included: Olivier Latry, Michel Bouvard, Thierry Escaich, and Laszlo Fassang. At CNSMDP she received the highest academic mention “très bien” in organ performance, organ improvisation, and Gregorian Chant. Some of her performance venues in France included: la Chappelle Royale de Versailles, l’Abbaye de St-Ouen (Rouen), St-Eustache, and la Cathédrale Notre- Dame de Paris. Mina Marie took first prize in the RCYO competition and subsequently performed in two recitals for the 2016 National American Guild of Organists Convention (Houston, TX). With an earnest heart, Mina Marie carries out a vocation to Sacred Music. As an instrument herself, she wishes to share the beauty of this transcendent music––which has inspired and directed her––to nourish, empower, and uplift others. Most recently, she served as Interim Director of Music and Organist at Church of the Epiphany on the Upper East Side (Manhattan), and has served roles at Christ Church (Rochester, NY); Holy Trinity Church, and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception (Washington, DC), among other churches.
Mina Marie is currently Director of Music at St Aidan’s Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Her passion and inspiration is embedded in Gregorian Chant and Medieval and Renaissance Polyphony. She loves to cook and is fascinated by the human brain. She worked as a Medical Assistant in Neuropsychiatry.
