Music that Should be Seen and Not Heard

Hosted By
Thierry van B. and Wayne

Details
Some music is written with very specific images in the mind of the composer. When this music is heard in concert, however good it is, it lacks the full impact envisioned by the composer. In ballet specifically, many pieces were written to a libretto with a specific story to be told in pantomime, costumes, pageantry, scenery, spectacle: total art.
Using well-known selections from Russian ballet, we'll join our host Wayne to enjoy these works as they were intended to be performed and follow the development of visual music from the 19th century into the 20th. Once seen, it becomes impossible to separate the music from its story and images.
