Sit and Chant With Us!

Details
A normal hour of zazen followed by a brief service of chanting (20 minutes max). Laminated cards will be available to you with the atonement gatha, the refuges, the heart sutra, the dedication, and the closing vows. Follow along, or just listen to the sounds of voices, fish drums, and bells. Shunryu Suzuki Roshi says it is not the meaning of the words, but saying the words, hearing the words, allowing the words to happen, that frees us from thought (this is a super simplistic paraphrase... I can't find the quote in my book!). Arrive at 5:30am for hands-on instruction. Zazen begins promptly at 6am. Stick around after 7am for another hour of zazen and outdoor kinhin.
Go to CMZG.Org and read the 'How to Sit' section before attending. If you want further personal instruction, show up at 5:30am. If you need a chair, please email beforehand.
