Hessler Street Fair 2016

Details

Every year since 1969, the Hessler Street community has put on a colorful festival to celebrate their victorious effort to save their neighborhood. At the time, a powerful corporation wanted to bulldoze the neighborhood - which includes one of Cleveland's oldest red brick roads - in order to build parking lots and student dormitories for Case Western. The people prevailed, and this eclectic, beautiful neighborhood continues to thrive!

The annual Hessler Street fair features live music, poetry readings, fire-breathing acts (but only at night!), and vendors selling anything imaginable - delicious food, handcrafted jewelry and clothing, incense and candles, and of course, there are always quite a few tents devoted to activism of all kinds! The festival attracts crowds from all walks of life, from modern-day hipsters, to hippies of our parents' generation, to regular run-of-the-mill Cleveland folk just looking to enjoy a gorgeous outdoor festival. There is sure to be something to please everyone, no matter your tastes!

As for parking, there are usually spots available in the parking garage on Ford, but if it's full, there is street parking in the surrounding area. There may also be a few other lots open nearby. My recommendation is to try the lot on Ford first, though.

Come out and join us in celebrating one of the most unique and oldest of Cleveland's neighborhoods! This is a festival truly unlike any other in our area, and you'll want to see it first-hand!
