Buy a bitcoin

"I'd like to be walked through the process of acquiring my first bitcoin and I'm sure I'm not the only one."

This was the request.

I'll be on hand to give a short introduction to bitcoin and a demonstration. I'll show you all the possible places you can buy from, how to use bitcoin, and things to watch for. I'll even sell you some bitcoin from my own personal stash if you like.

My name is Scott Emick and I've been engaged in the bitcoin community since November of 2013. I work full time as a database developer & Engineer for Involta, a cloud hosting company. I'm married and have 4 kids. You can find me in the forum on Localbitcoins.com chatting about anything nearly any day of the week...I've seen a lot in nearly 3 years.. Exchanges come and go, arrests, thefts, scams, you name it. I've encountered scam artists, thieves, FBI, homeland security, bank fraud investigators, PayPal Fraud, Credit Card Fraud, local police detectives from multiple jurisdictions. I've bought bitcoin from the FBI, Police, and a Drug Task force.

I have some technical knowledge of the blockchain and various wallets and some practical hints for using bitcoin. I hope to elaborate on a lot of this on Friday.
