January Meetup - A Functional Programmer looks at SwiftUI

Details
This month, Daniel Steinberg will present:
Shrinking Fish: A Functional Programmer looks at SwiftUI
In a famous paper from forty years ago, Peter Henderson drew Escher’s famous Square Limit with fish that nested and shrank as they approached the edges of the square. “Big deal,” you say. He’s used functional techniques such as combinators and before there was SwiftUI I replicated this work using Swift and UIKit. It turns out that SwiftUI Views and ViewBuilders work in a way that is compatible with this technique and we’ll play with these ideas in this talk. Believe it or not - at the end you’ll come away with ideas for your own iOS apps.
Let us know if you’d like to give a presentation! It’s always informal, so there are no requirements of slideshows or length, however you want to convey what you’re interested in is great. We’re all here to learn and to discuss as a group what we find neat about Swift and Apple development.
Get in touch with us here or on Cleveland Tech Slack. If you aren’t on Cleveland Tech Slack, join us on the Zoom call here and we will send you an invitation. Broadcasting invite links publicly tends to be abused .
