Our First Chapter: Writers’ Critique Circle Kickoff

Join us for the very first meeting of the Cleveland Writers’ Critique Circle! ✍️✨

We’ll be gathering on Saturday, October 4th, from 2–4pm at Ocoee Coffee Company (2300 N Ocoee St, Cleveland, TN 37311).

Since this is our kickoff event, expect a smaller group and a cozy atmosphere. Seating and parking are limited, but we’ll do our best to secure a table together. As the group grows, we’ll reserve larger spaces when needed.

Here’s what to expect for our first meetup:

• We’ll begin with introductions so everyone gets to know each other.
• Readers will then be randomly selected. Each reader may share up to 2,000 words per meeting to allow time for both readings and constructive critique.
• Please bring enough printed copies of your work for all attendees so everyone can read along and jot down notes directly on the page. These will be given back to you after notes are completed.
• Feel free to bring a pen, pencil, or highlighter—extra supplies will be available if you forget.
• Out of courtesy to our hosts, we ask that everyone purchase at least a drink or snack to support Ocoee Coffee Company for allowing us to gather there. ☕🥐

Looking ahead:

• Meetings will likely run every two weeks (bi-weekly) to give members time to write, reflect, and prepare post-critiques.
• We may rotate meeting spots in the future and keep the group capped at about 10 attendees so everyone has a chance to share.
• Readers will always be chosen at random to ensure fairness.
