For this game jam, we will be presenting our own unique theme to the group and promoting a positive, collaborative environment. You can think of games jams as a hackathon focused on game development. It is the growth of an idea that in today’s heavily connected world, we could come together, be creative, share experiences and express ourselves in a multitude of ways using video games. Although the event is heavily focused on programming, there are many other areas where people who don’t code can contribute to a game.
We will be holding the event at the Shaker|LaunchHouse startup incubator. LaunchHouse (http://launchhouse.com (http://launchhouse.com/)) is a lean new public-private partnership that fosters entrepreneurial success and job creation through seed capital, education and innovation. This Northeast Ohio organization connects new entrepreneurs with proven business leaders in a grassroots, for-profit model that can be successfully replicated nationwide. This is an exciting and unique space that will give our group plenty of room to work. Please note that we will only be using the LaunchHouse space during the hours specified below.
It is recommended that people interested in working within a team form it in advance though there will be open pitch sessions for groups to recruit other members. Participants will need to bring their own laptops or desktops and whatever software or technology they need for creating games. Wifi Internet access will be available. Participants also have the option to build “paper prototype” games using whatever supplies they wish to bring.
