Welcome back Cleveland Game Devs for our 11th Global Game Jam!

With the current coronavirus situation our jam will be all online, but we have some cool ideas planned!

We will be hosting our game jam via https://gather.town/ this year. Gather.town is a video chat site that allows you to walk around in a virtual environment, network, and mingle as groups. This will allow for brainstorming, group formation, and working with freelancers to happen in a dynamic interactive way.
(The gather.town link will be sent out in an email before the event, or available via meetup.com. Please contact us if you have any issues.)

Our asynchronous communication will happen via discord. Join our CGD discord here: https://discord.com/invite/cGa5aJTMvB

Unlike previous years, the theme will not be secret and will be announced this week. This will allow for a little extra time to brainstorm and come up with ideas. We we also be working on continuing our tradition of having a Cleveland specific keynote speaker on Friday night!

We host final presentations on Sunday at 3:00PM as before, but afterwards we'll provide time for everyone to download everyone's games and play and chat. We look forward to seeing you there!

If you'd like to register on our Global Game Jam site early, you can find it here! - https://globalgamejam.org/2022/jam-sites/cleveland-game-devs-ggj-2022

What is the Global Game Jam (GGJ)?
The GGJ brings together talented individuals from within your community to create something awesome! It is a unique opportunity for people to push their skills and challenge their way of working. Participants work concurrently with developers around the globe; we rally around a central theme, and then have over 60 hours to create a game. It's our hope that we will see some very experimental realized prototypes that you can continue to work on after the jam. Many games developed in previous Game Jams have become fully realized games. The GGJ is open source, hardware and software agnostic and all projects are protected under a Creative Commons license. We encourage people to try out new ideas and push themselves, within reason. We also strongly encourage participants to remember to eat and sleep, to stay at their best! More on Global Game Jam here: https://globalgamejam.org/.

At Global Game Jam locations around the world, teams of artists, coders, designers and musicians collaborate to build games over a weekend based on a specific theme. The event is open to all experience levels, no prior experience required.

People interested in working with a team may form it in advance or take part in pitch sessions that will help make potential matches. Working solo is also an option. Participants also have the option to build “paper prototype” games or board games.

Per Global Game Jam rules this event is for individuals over 18 years of age. All other CGD meetings are open to all ages.
