Join us for our October lunch meeting at Claim52, featuring special guest speaker Mindy Bell of School Garden Project!
Mindy has been in her role of Executive Director for 8 years. She was born and raised in Oregon, and has over 18 years of experience in private financial sector business management and national team-building. In the 15 years since she transitioned into nonprofit management, Mindy has built programs from the ground up, done advocacy work for underserved communities at the state and federal level, and has been instrumental in establishing local community collaborative partnerships.
As she lives in a house that is divided, she enjoys rooting for the Ducks and the Beavers at all sporting events. She, her husband, and youngest son are all University of Oregon graduates. Her oldest son, the renegade, is an Oregon State University graduate.
Mindy has been married to her master gardener for 39 years and enjoys canning and preserving the bounty from their garden. What makes Mindy smile? Witnessing a child experiencing an "ah-ha" moment in the garden.
School Garden Project of Lane County is a local nonprofit that currently partners with 15 elementary schools using their onsite gardens as outdoor classrooms. Their activities are designed to introduce children to new science concepts, teach basic gardening skills, and encourage eating healthy garden produce all while having fun.
