August Climate/Environment Movie Club: Yintah & Erin Brokovich

Details
Hi, climate book/movie friends!
This month, we'll be discussing two movies centered on environmental justice from different perspectives. Yes, our first double billing! Please watch the movies *before* the meeting and come ready to discuss.
If you can't watch both and can only watch one, that's fine, but we will use part of our discussion to compare and contrast how the films (one fictional drama based on real life, the other a documentary) portray environmental activists from different backgrounds.
First Film: YINTAH (directed by Brenda Michell, Michael Toledano & Jennifer Wickham)
-Website summary: Spanning more than a decade, YINTAH follows Howilhkat Freda Huson and Sleydo’ Molly Wickham as their nation reoccupies and protects their ancestral lands from the Canadian government and several of the largest fossil fuel companies on earth.
-Available for streaming on Netflix.
-If you don't have Netflix, you can also check out this compilation of short news docs of the Indigenous-led anti-pipeline protests in Canada from the CBC to get a basic overview of the topic.
Second Film: ERIN BROCKOVICH (directed by Steven Soderbergh, nominated for five Academy Awards & Julia Roberts won for best actress)
-IMDb summary: A flamboyant law firm secretary works tirelessly to gain justice for a small town wrecked by a utility company's pollution.
-Available to rent for $3.79 on Amazon Prime or $3.99 on Google Play
