While we're all Sheltering in Place, now is a good time to make sure our house is in its best shape before we experience another natural or man-made disaster.

Parts of the country are experiencing, floods and tornadoes, while hurricane season is about to start on the east coast and fire season here on the west coast.

This is another zoom call. Once you register here, you'll see the zoom link on the right hand side.

WellKeep is an iOS App for home maintenance. It creates To Do and To Buy lists for a variety of tasks including some that most folks don’t know are needed. WellKeep creates these lists based on pre-populated examples which include items, e.g. a hot water heater, together with actions to be taken, e.g. check the sacrificial rod that prevents rust in the water heater, and any required supplies. To Do’s and To Buy’s are regenerated at intervals appropriate to each task. WellKeep requires a subscription to access all of the examples.

WellKeep can be considered to be within the InsurTech space. For example, if every homeowner having a policy with State Farm were to have the exhaust ducts for their clothes dryers cleaned annually, State Farm would save as much as $10 million per year in foregone fire claims.

WellKeep was partly motivated by the environmental benefits of proper maintenance. For example, people might save only a tiny amount of energy by vacuuming the coils of their refrigerators, but they would be saving quite a bit when taken together. Proper maintenance can extend the usable life of most things and thus reduce embodied carbon over time by slowing replacement.
