People + Tech - Digital MeetUp meets Cloud Native Computing Rhein-Ruhr

Dear Cloud Native Computing Rhein-Ruhr Community,

we are very happy to invite you to our next Meetup. On Monday 18.08.2020 there will be a co-hosting event of the Cloud Native Computing Rhein-Ruhr Meetup in cooperation with the People + Tech Meetup.

What to expect? Two exciting talks, great group of people and evening full of knowledge sharing.

The talks:

1. "Divide & Conquer the Cloud" by Arnd Hanemann, METRONOM

Developing and operating applications in a (multi-)cloud environment involves a huge stack of technologies; from programming languages and frameworks over different automation tooling for building, testing, and deployment. And obviously lots of infrastructure.

In this talk we will share our journey to and inside the cloud as well as our experiences and learnings from our Platform approach.

2. REWE RIAG DIGITAL Infrastructure platform by Damjan Gjurovski, PRODYNA
   As the cloud native technologies mature and more companies move their business to a cloud-first or hybrid strategy, many are faced with the sheer scale and complexity of a cloud-native system. Knowledge is scarce, employees need to be (re)trained and progress is slow.

In this talk we will present the infrastructure platform we are building with REWE International (AT) that aims to overcome this problem. The platform should offer a one-stop, self-service solution that will enable developers to provision cloud resources and afford them maximum freedom with minimal effort, while lowering load on the operations team and keeping an overview of the situation to make governance happy.
