Kubernetes & Cloud Native Aachen Meetup September 2024

Hello fellow Cloud Native and Kubernetes enthusiasts,

We are thrilled to announce the second Kubernetes & Cloud Native Aachen Meetup! Our goal is to establish a regular gathering where we can share knowledge, expand our networks, and engage in discussions about all things Cloud Native and Kubernetes.

This meetup will feature two exciting talks: one by a participant from our last event and another by one of the organizers. As before, there will be ample opportunities for networking over drinks and food.

18:30-19:00: Open doors

19:00-19:10: Welcome words from the organizers and thank you to our sponsor CANCOM

19:10-19:40: Clemens Röhl - "Case Study: Cluster API 4 Years in Production"

Clemens is a Senior Cloud Engineer at CANCOM with a focus on Container Platform.

19:40-20:15: Networking over drinks and food

20:15-20:45: Benedikt Bongartz, Rania Zoghlami - "Getting Started with OpenTelemetry Observability"

This session will cover all the observability basics you need to start improving your Kubernetes journey. We'll review key concepts and start with an overview of the OpenTelemetry project. We'll make sense of things like instrumentation, semantic conventions, the collector and the operator.

Finally, we will gain some practical knowledge by setting up a simple observability setup and integrating with existing components like jaeger and prometheus.
