When thinking about introducing microservices and especially when working on top of a container platform, using a service mesh technology is a logical next step if not a necessity. This session will highlight the core features and benefits of a service mesh and how configuration would look like with Istio.

Traefik - The Cloud Native Edge Router

In the era of containers and other dynamic platforms, management of entry points is becoming a great challenge, with the large amounts of application deployments requiring entry points to update often. And the patterns for routing, blue / green or canary, are challenging to scale. You want secured HTTPS requests on your applications, while ensuring certificates are up to date on these ephemeral URLs, thus requiring a lot of plumbing. This talk introduces Traefik, an open source and dynamic reverse proxy which key concepts are simplicity and automation. Traefik removes the need to update routing configurations by interfacing to backends such as Kubernetes, Docker and many more providing dynamic configuration. With the upcoming version 2.0, Traefik is now supporting TCP and a lot of brand new features. We'll cover these novelties as first class citizen concepts.
