Cloud Native Linz - Sept 19 - Migration to Cloud Native & The Power of Operators
Details
We are excited to host the September/2023 edition of the Cloud Native Computing Linz meetup!
We'd like to thank netcetera for hosting the Meetup!
Talks will be announced soon, save the date and stay tuned.
--------- The Speakers ---------
Markus Adelsberger
Markus is a developer for the Netcetera Topay Mobile Wallet team, creating a white-label wallet solution with multiple million installs throughout the world. Starting off as a Java developer, he moved to the backend a few years ago and has pushing the TPMW product towards the cloud since.
---
Georg Mayrhauser
Georg is an engineer with over 10 years of experience mostly in Java / Spring environments. Lately, Georg has shifted his focus a bit to operational aspects within the Netcetera Payment Platform.
---
Christoph Müllner
Christoph is a Software Engineer and Product Owner at Dynatrace working on simplifying observability on Kubernetes.Working on supporting the cutting-edge of Kubernetes continuously produces new challenges, that need to be handled in the Dynatrace Operator. He is interested in solving new features in Kubernetes and ...Outside of work Christoph is passionate about his homelab (#k3s+#flux), hiking (#klimaticket) and drones (#dji).
--------- The Talks ---------
Markus Adelsberger & Georg Mayrhauser - Migration of on-prem payment systems to a Cloud Native Environment
Coming from on-prem environments under the scope of PCI-DSS, our project team has been focusing our efforts towards cloud native technologies.
We'd like to share our experiences and learnings with the community, show you a few pitfalls we encountered (so far) and how we solved them (or worked around them).
Our cluster setup, how we (try to) keep costs in control, how to handle existing databases will be some of the topics we'll talk about.
---
Christoph Müllner - Scaling Observability: Harnessing the Power of Operators in Kubernetes
Having to manually configure monitoring for each application in a Kubernetes cluster is a daunting task. How does the Dynatrace Operator inject applications with an agent to export Observability signals in a cloud native way and how did this evolve until today?
At first injection for containers was done in a hidden way by hooking into the container runtime. The challenge we have taken on is to use a more transparent and secure way to achieve the same user experience.
If you want to know what’s possible with Operators and learn about our challenges during development, don’t miss this opportunity to learn from Dynatrace’s real-world experiences. Learn how manual configuration changed to utilizing the Operator concept for managing a component’s lifecycle and removing manual operational efforts, Webhooks to modify application pods and a CSI driver to optimize download/storage!
