The first talk is from Joshua LaMorey-Salzmann. Joshua is a developer highly susceptible to all things involving cloud infrastructure, containerization, and IaC. When not busy hanging out on playgrounds with his daughter, or trying to decide on a final homelab architecture, he works at Statista on DevOps and AWS topics.

Goodbye CloudFormation: Building with SST v3
SST started as an approachable abstraction layer for deploying serverless meta-frameworks like Next.js on AWS by wrapping CloudFormation. But '24, SST v3 dropped CloudFormation entirely and became capable of much more. In this talk we will learn about SST, how to use it, why you'd want to, and some of the more unusual things it allows you to build at speed.

The second talk is held by Max Strohbücker. Max works as a consultant at viadee Unternehmensberatung AG, focussing on everything cloud. As an avid cloud enthusiast he tries to enable others by sharing knowledge as much as possible.

Uniform development environments – how Devcontainer and GitHub Codespaces simplify our training organization
Devcontainer and GitHub Codespaces bring a breath of fresh air to our training courses: instead of complex installation instructions and individual configuration problems, they ensure that all participants can start in an identical development environment with just a few clicks – regardless of their own computer. This leaves more time for what's important: learning, experimenting, and collaborating. In this presentation, I'll show you how we use Devcontainers and Codespaces and what advantages this can bring in training courses, workshops, and even in everyday work.
