Session 1: "Securing your Delivery Pipeline with Notary and TUF" by Sebastian Fernandez (Securosys)

In his presentation, Sebastian will demonstrate how Docker images can be signed to thwart Manifest and Man-in-the-Middle attacks, highlighting the seamless integration of Hardware Security Modules (HSM) in Docker Notary. He will delve into the central role of HSM and provide insights into Docker encryption to present a comprehensive approach for enhanced security.

At Securosys, Sebastian Fernandez works as an enthusiastic cloud security engineer with a specialization in Kubernetes and container architectures. He completed his undergraduate studies with a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on software development and Blockchain.
He is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Medical Informatics with the goal of improving and securing global health.

Session 2: "Practical Approaches to Greening Your Cloud Native Practices" by Michael Mueller (re:cinq)

The rapid advancement of technology has brought transformative advancements in various aspects of our lives, revolutionizing communication, commerce, and nearly every industry. However, this transformation has also come at a significant environmental cost, with the energy consumption of data centers and computing infrastructure significantly contributing to global carbon emissions. As we strive to build a more sustainable future, it is imperative that the DevOps community takes a leading role in minimizing the environmental impact of our software and platforms.

With a career spanning over two decades from being at the technological forefront to holding senior management positions, Michael Mueller is a widely recognised figure within the cloud and sustainable IT industry. As an expert in cloud technologies, transformation and sustainable software, he’s not only worked for leading companies he also got elected as Co-Chair at the Green Software Foundation’s Policy Working Group. Michael shares his knowledge as lecturer at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and various industry conferences.

Session 3: "Production Ready Container Operations" by Manuel Hutter (VSHN)

While there is a lot of reading material about how to deploy an application on Kubernetes, the ongoing operations of an application are rarely the topic. In this talk, we'll try to cover all aspects of production ready container operations, and give concrete examples on how to address each issue.

Manuel is a Cloud Native Solutions Architect. He has been working in the container, DevOps, and Kubernetes space for 15 years, and guides VSHN customers towards the best possible solutions for their problems. He is passionate about building robust automations & systems that make your work easier, instead of getting in your way.

The event will be recorded and made available later on VSHN's YouTube channel: https://vshn.tv – subscribe to be notified of updates!

We expect all participants to abide by VSHN's Conference Code of Conduct: https://www.vshn.ch/en/code-of-conduct/

If you would like to share your cloud-native projects at the CNC Switzerland meetup events, or if you would like to sponsor future events, just send us your talk suggestion here: https://cnc-meetup.ch – we look forward to hearing from you!
