Session 1: "Cloud Native on the Desktop: a Windows user tale" by Nuno Do Carmo (SUSE)

The server world runs on Linux, however when it comes to Desktop OS and for developers in bigger companies, the primary OS is Windows. How to ensure your users and developers use and create Cloud Native applications in an Enterprise? This talk will provide the attendees with an overview of the current Windows Subsystem for Linux feature and will show few options for running containerized workloads (Docker Desktop, Podman Desktop, Rancher Desktop, Minikube). And if the time allows, a specific distro and the containerized workload will be created live.

Known as the Corsair and a massive Windows fan in the Cloud Native community, Nuno set his mission to help running the amazing Cloud Native projects on WSL2 and create “technologically inclusive” blogs at https://wsl.dev. He’s also a Tech Writer for SUSE where he contributes to the main OpenSource projects, such as Kubewarden, Epinio, Elemental, Rancher Desktop. His principal traits are that he has 4 cats at home (read: a lot of patience) and provides Swiss chocolate during events (read: community oriented).

Session 2: "Containers and Harbor" by Vadim Bauer (8gears)
Embark on the untapped potential of container image management as we delve into Harbor. In the talk, we discuss the core of Harbor, showcasing the real-world use cases that companies typically encounter. During that, we learn about Harbor's superpowers and how they set Harbor apart, and how we can use them ourselves.

Vadim Bauer is a Container Silverback with a decade of experience in running containers in production. As a maintainer of the CNCF project Harbor, he focuses on extending the boundaries of OCI artifact management, adoption, and developer experience. At 8gears, Vadim helps cloud providers, ISVs and enterprises adopt Harbor and use OCI capabilities.

Session 3: "Cilium Service Mesh" by Raphaël Pinson (Isovalent)
🤯 Why does Service Mesh have to be so complex‽ Well, it doesn't! In this session, Raphaël will explore Cilium Service Mesh, and how it can enable layer 7 networking, security, and observability in a Kubernetes cluster without the need for extra plugins, or even sidecars!

Many thanks to Exoscale for sponsoring the event location and the "Apéro" after the event!

The event will be recorded and made available later on VSHN's YouTube channel: https://vshn.tv – subscribe to be notified of updates!

We expect all participants to abide by VSHN's Conference Code of Conduct: https://www.vshn.ch/en/code-of-conduct/

If you would like to share your cloud-native projects in the CNC Switzerland meetup events, just send us your talk suggestion here: https://cnc-meetup.ch – we look forward to hearing from you.
