Session 1: "Platform Engineering for Generative AI-powered applications" by Krzysztof Hałasa & Patryk Bąk (BlueSoft)

This talk will address the essence of Platform Engineering and its benefits for organizations. We aim to compare it with DevOps practices, highlighting the differences and unique advantages. Our presentation will demonstrate that Platform Engineering is not just about technology but a methodology that accelerates the delivery of business value more quickly, efficiently, and securely. We will illustrate how a platform approach enhances developer efficiency and facilitates the adoption of new technologies, such as Generative AI.

Krzysztof Hałasa is Architect & Consultant at BlueSoft. He brings a decade of IT experience in various roles, including architect, programmer, and manager. He is an expert in organizing IT teams and transformation programs and has served as a Product Owner Platform since 2020. He authors the blog khalasa.com and runs a YouTube channel focused on Platform Engineering. An enthusiast of product-centric approaches, team topologies, and microservices architectures, Krzysztof acts as a bridge between corporate architects, DevOps engineers, IT management, and consultants from the Big Four.

Patryk Bąk is a Solution Architect at BlueSoft. He has over six years of experience in IT, spanning Software Engineering, DevOps, and team leader roles. His focus areas include Platform Engineering, Software Supply Chain Security, and LLMOps. He graduated from Warsaw University of Technology's Electronics and Information Technology Faculty.

Session 2: "Dagger 101" by Christoph Raaflaub & Raphaela Seeger (Puzzle ITC)

Dagger is an innovative open-source tool for designing CI/CD pipelines that differ from conventional approaches. Instead of defining pipelines in YAML or Bash, Dagger enables programming in a fully-fledged programming language. In this talk, you will learn the basics and see how Puzzle ITC developed pipelines more efficiently with the help of Dagger.

Christoph Raaflaub is a Software Architect & Middleware Engineer at Puzzle ITC.

Raphaela Seeger is a Container Engineer at Puzzle ITC.

Session 3: "Using Common Expression Language (CEL) to build an IAM system" by Alex King (Exoscale)

This talk will examine the Common Expression Language (CEL), an open-source language also used by Kubernetes to specify authorization policies, and the challenges faced and lessons learned in building an Identity and Access Management system at Exoscale.

Alex King is a software engineer from the UK who is currently based in Switzerland with Exoscale, where he works on Orchestration and Identity and Access Management. He was responsible for large rewrites of the core architecture behind the BBC Sport and BBC News platforms and worked as a consultant at HMRC, Credit Suisse, and Sky TV before joining Exoscale.

The event will be recorded and published on VSHN's YouTube channel: https://vshn.tv. Subscribe to be notified of updates!

We expect all participants to abide by VSHN's Conference Code of Conduct: https://www.vshn.ch/en/code-of-conduct/
