Your Cluster, Their Agent: What Open Systems Built Before Letting Claude Touch Kubernetes (Ivan Bogovic, Open Systems; Marco Kuendig, Copebit)
Open Systems runs a large Kubernetes estate on AWS, and its engineers now write manifests, Helm charts and OpenTofu modules with Claude Code. Whether an agent can write YAML is settled. The question this talk answers is what has to stand between the agent and the cluster before you let it near production.
Ivan Bogovic, Infrastructure Manager, Open Systems AG. Runs the infrastructure the estate sits on, and set the constraints the rollout had to meet. Marco Kuendig, Chief Technology Officer, copebit AG. Led the architecture. copebit is a Swiss AWS partner.
QuantyKube: A Zero-Dependency, Rust-from-Scratch Drop-In for etcd and the Container Sandbox (Samuel Krauss, Elchi Studios)
Every Kubernetes cluster depends on etcd to store control-plane state and on a container sandbox to isolate workloads. Both are mature, and both bring large dependency trees. QuantyKube (https://github.com/quantyRoot/quantykube) rebuilds these two components from scratch in Rust with zero external dependencies, which means no supply chain to audit and a small attack surface. Its storage core is copy-on-write and designed for this workload. The goal is a true drop-in replacement: one command patches an existing cluster, without a migration project or rewritten manifests. Samuel shows the architecture, the design trade-offs, and what a zero-dependency approach costs and buys. He also gives an early demo, with benchmarks and an account of what works today and what does not yet.
Samuel Krauss is a software engineer and the creator of the QuantyVerse, a family of zero-dependency Rust infrastructure projects. It began with QuantyDatabase, a copy-on-write database with time travel, written from scratch. The QuantyVerse is now becoming an official project of Elchi Studios. His interests include small, auditable systems software and making the cloud-native stack faster and simpler to operate.
