Serverless – Lessons learned from real world applications

Unser viertes Meetup findet am 26.11. bei der QuinScape GmbH statt.

Wir wollen dieses Mal in das Thema Serverless eintauchen und erfahren wann der Einsatz einer solchen Architektur Sinn macht. Moukarram Kabbash wird uns dazu von seiner Erfahrung mit Serverless Architekturen berichten.

Moukarram ist als Cloud Architect bei der Grohe AG tätig. Seine Schwerpunkte in der Softwareentwicklung liegen in den Bereichen IoT, Serverless und Microservices. Er berichtet gerne über seine Erfahrung und ist am fachlichen Austausch über alle Themen der modernen Software-Architektur interessiert. Sein Vortrag beschreibt er wie folgt:

"Serverless is one of the most import computing models in the cloud context. Despite the misleading name, there are still servers to run your code, you just don’t have to manage them. The cloud provider runs the server, dynamically manages the allocation of machine resources and provides runtime environments.

The gains in agility and low costs come at a price of reduced flexibility and responsiveness. Using a list of do's and don'ts some of the trade-offs of the serverless architecture are demonstrated to provide a better understanding of the AWS serverless platform and how to get the most out of it while working around its shortcomings."
