Session Details (Talk #1)
Speaker Bio: Shah Hassan is a technology leader with over 15 years of experience building and scaling production systems across fintech, payments, healthcare, and fitness platforms. He currently serves as Head of Digital Innovation at iPay88, where he leads multiple engineering teams responsible for modernizing large-scale payment platforms, including AWS region migrations, dual-running legacy and next-generation systems, and adopting cloud native and GitOps practices in regulated environments.
Session Title: GitOps vs Reality in Prod
Session Description: ArgoCD says synced. Kubernetes says healthy. Git contains the desired state. Yet the customer-facing service is down. What happened? GitOps gives us a powerful declarative operating model for Kubernetes, but real enterprise production environments extend far beyond Kubernetes. Traffic may pass through DNS, WAF, load balancers, VPC networking, security controls and other infrastructure where changes may still happen through different pipelines, operational processes, or directly through a cloud console.
This session explores the “declarative gap” through real-world cloud native scenarios: what happens when Kubernetes is managed through Git, Kustomize and Argo CD, while other parts of the production path can still drift from their intended state. We will examine where GitOps ends, how manual and emergency changes create operational drift, why Infrastructure as Code alone does not automatically solve the operating model, and how teams can connect GitOps, IaC, change management, drift detection, observability and ownership into a more reliable production practice.
Rather than asking whether everything should be GitOps, we will ask a more practical question: for every component capable of breaking production, do we know its desired state, who can change it, how drift is detected, and how we recover? Expect Kubernetes, Kustomize, Argo CD, cloud infrastructure, failure scenarios, and the messy human reality behind operating production systems.
Session Details (Talk #2)
Speaker Bio: Leon Nunes is a DevOps engineer who loves to tinker with Linux systems
Session Title: Real World Use Cases of GatewayAPI
Session Description: Gateway API is the latest standard set of API's that replace Ingress in Kubernetes. In this talk we're going to see how Gateway API plays out in the real world with actual use cases in production. The talk outlines how we can leverage Gateway API in a popular service meshes/Gateways as of today and how traffic routing, weighted routing etc. can be achieved, and how the API helps with separating platform responsibilities from developers and platform engineers
