Scaling Postgres in Kubernetes Using the Power of CloudNativePG, (Gabriele Bartolini, EDB)
Unleash PostgreSQL's potential in Kubernetes with CloudNativePG, a community-driven control plane reshaping the database landscape. Join me, a dedicated CloudNativePG maintainer and active Postgres contributor, on a journey through managing highly available clusters in the Cloud Native era. Discover best practices for large-scale databases: architecture, deployment on bare metal or virtual machines in Kubernetes, storage optimization, robust backup, recovery strategies, vertical scalability, and performance tuning. Gain insights into real-world challenges and battle-tested solutions for seamless PostgreSQL cluster operation, catering to applications and AI use cases. Delve into CloudNativePG's strengths, discussing existing capabilities, limitations, and the future roadmap.
A long time open source programmer and entrepreneur, Gabriele has a degree in Statistics from the University of Florence. After having consistently contributed to the growth of 2ndQuadrant and its members, he is now leading the Cloud Native initiative at EDB. Postgres users for 20+ years, expert in business continuity of very large databases, he's now a maintainer of CloudNativePG. Find Gabriele at @GBartolini
How to turn Cognitive Load into creativity (Michel Murabito, Mia-Platform)
The talk explores the evolutionary path of programming, from its inception to the modern practices of cloud and platform engineering. Cognitive load has become a critical factor for developers and operations. This presentation demonstrates how to transform such load into a lever for creativity and innovation. We will discuss the importance of cloud computing and platform engineering as tools to effectively manage and reduce cognitive load. The advantages of adopting these approaches will be discussed, not only in terms of operational efficiency but also as a means to unleash the creative potential of teams. We will show how to approach cognitive load not as an obstacle but as an opportunity to review one's working methodologies, encourage collaboration among teams, and ultimately transform challenges into new creative opportunities.
Developer Advocate at Mia-Platform with over 18 years of software development experience, Mich loves sharing his knowledge. Between 2021 and 2022, he spoke at many Italian and international events. He manages a YouTube channel and a community of more than 700 members, where he primarily discusses the Developer profession.
Data Governance on GCP using Dataplex (Rajnish Singh)
The sharing and transfer of data plays an important role and therefore, it is important to overcome internal and external barriers for them to be processed. This can be achieved by the implementation of better Data Governance. Data is a valuable organizational asset, and it must be professionally managed to maximize its value. Governance and management are complementary functions. Governance defines mechanisms to ensure good management with an emphasis on strait participation, transparency, integrity, and accountability. One of the mechanisms of governance is the implementation of policies, which are formal instruments where the principles to be adopted are defined, as well as the guidelines, responsibilities and how the organizational structure will conduct and monitor. From a scientific perspective, public research, development and innovation (R&D) institutions have strived to find new ways to manage data, generating them in their internal activities, in research networks, in interinstitutional relations and in interactions with society in general. This effort aims to ensure the proper management and preservation of these assets to achieve sustainability and competitiveness in the modern scientific and technological system. Data Governance has become a major challenge for Organizations, institutions as the global information environment moves towards new phenomena, paradigms, and movements such as Big Data, Cloud etc. This talk is going to be focused on how to implement data governance in Cloud (GCP) and what is the best cloud native (tool) way to implement data governance in GCP.
Technology Architect-Cloud & Data, Rajnish has more than 10 years of experience in Cloud and Data. Rajnish has worked with organizations like Atos, HCL and Accenture in the past.
