Fighting Dinosaurs – with hosty and ChatGPT: Opportunities and Limitations in Legacy System Analysis, Martin Binder (Lead IT Consultant at QAware)

How can you analyze a 30-year-old system based on IBM iSeries (AS/400) with RPG code? How can you "understand" it well enough to identify its functional components? Surprisingly, ChatGPT recognizes IBM's RPG programming language. With the help of this LLM, I was able to quickly familiarize myself with the system and develop a solid understanding of it. That alone is a great start—but certainly not enough. That's why we created hosty, a universally applicable methodology and toolset for analyzing legacy systems. A new era of productivity? Insights into the use and usefulness of AI tools, Marcus Ciolkowski (Lead IT Consultant at QAware)

The rapid development and adoption of AI-based tools such as ChatGPT and GitHub CoPilot has revolutionized the way technological and creative professions work. But what are the real benefits of these tools? We have rolled out ChatGPT and GitHub CoPilot for all our employees and also asked ourselves this question. To answer it, we conducted an internal company survey to understand the benefits and usability of these tools and how (i.e. in which application scenarios) they are used. The survey is based on the UTAUT model (Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology). In this talk, I will present the main results and findings.
