Kick off June with the Cloud Community in Porto! 🚀
#10 Cloud Native Porto is back - and this time we’re going bigger with an incredible triple partnership: Cloud Native Porto 🤝 GDG Porto 🤝 DevOps na Praia
Our June meetup brings together three communities for an evening of learning, networking, and good energy - made possible with the support of our sponsors, Five9, Google, CNCF and with the help of synvert xgeeks as an ongoing CNP sponsor.
📍 Location: Five9 – Porto
📅 Date: June 2, 2026
⏰ Time: 18:30
Agenda & Talks:
🎤 19:00 – Building Multi-Environment Lean Kubernetes Platforms
Speaker: Rui Trigo – Senior Systems Engineer @ Tripadvisor
linkedin.com/in/r-trigo
Abstract: Diving into how platform engineers build lean Kubernetes platforms that work smoothly across prod and non-prod environments without adding unnecessary complexity. Sharing practical ideas around opinionated defaults, self-servicing, consistent setups across environments, and safer releases with less operational overhead. The goal is to make Kubernetes more useful for engineering teams while keeping the platform simple, scalable, and easy to work with.
Rui Trigo is a Senior Systems Engineer at Tripadvisor Experiences who has been passionate about tech for as long as he can remember. He spends much of his free time tinkering in his homelab and reading widely on technology and beyond. When he’s out of office, he trains in martial arts to stay in shape.
🎤 19:30 – Releases, Enhancements, Deprecations: The Kubernetes Way
Speaker: Frederico Muñoz - Kubernetes Release Team Co-Lead | Cloud and Architecture Lead @ SAS
linkedin.com/in/fs
Abstract: Every year, 3 new Kubernetes releases are announced. This rhythm has been a sign of vitality — not without its challenges — but how does it actually happen? In this session, Frederico gives us an inside view of how the Kubernetes release process is organised, how it has evolved to its current state, and the short-term challenges the community is tackling, with the recently announced Kubernetes 1.36 “Haru” as the backdrop. Code Freezes, Feature Blogs, Enhancement Freezes, alpha and beta cuts — we’ll cover the process, the community, and the terminology.
Frederico Muñoz has been involved with Linux since the mid-90s and never really stopped. From being a Debian Developer to a Cloud Architect at SAS, he has designed and deployed cloud-native platforms across Europe while staying hands-on as a Kubernetes Release Team member since v1.26. He led the Kubernetes v1.32 release and is currently a SIG Release Co-lead, as well as a CNCF Ambassador and co-organiser of KCD Porto. He also published 20+ articles on kubernetes.io as part of his work with SIG Contribex. When not wrangling release cycles or deployment diagrams, he continues to study and write on Archaeology, a passion asold as his opensource involvement.
🍕 20:00 – Networking, Food & Drinks
Join us at Five9’s offices in Porto to connect with the community, share ideas, and network with Cloud Native, DevOps, and GDG enthusiasts!
Thanks to Five9, Synvert xgeeks, Google, and the CNCF for making this evening possible.
See you there! 👋
