Securing the Invisible: Governing Data in the Age of Cloud Scale, AI, and Decent

Details

Join us for our joint meeting with the Central Alabama ISSA chapter and ISACA. In today’s enterprise environments, data no longer sits behind clear perimeters. It flows constantly — across S3 buckets, data lakes, Redshift warehouses, SageMaker notebooks, and third-party AI workloads. With cloud scale and AI adoption accelerating, traditional security models based on static infrastructure, role-based controls, or periodic audits are no longer sufficient.

In this session, Raj Vedula, VP of Data and AI, draws directly from his leadership experience modernizing large-scale enterprise data platforms. Raj has overseen the secure rollout of hundreds of workloads across multiple AWS accounts and environments, including the design and implementation of enterprise-wide CI/CD, data pipeline governance, and observability frameworks.
Attendees will gain actionable insights into:

  • Measuring actual data usage across cloud-native and hybrid platforms — not just what access was provisioned
  • Analyzing access patterns to identify anomalies, stale permissions, and lateral movement potential
  • Validating ML access paths: ensuring sensitive data (e.g., PII/PHI) accessed by notebooks or AI agents is authorized, time-bound, and traceable
  • Building secure-by-default pipelines with embedded governance from ingestion to consumption
  • Implementing a single-pane-of-glass observability solution to monitor data movement, access behaviors, and policy violations in real time

This session is designed for engineering leaders, security architects, and platform teams who are building or securing data platforms at scale. The focus is on practical implementation, not just principles — with no ambiguity on responsibilities, enforcement points, or governance boundaries.
