#2 Cloud Security London Online

When: Wednesday 6th May - 18:30- 20:30
Location: Online - https://twitch.tv/cloudsectv

Given the current situation in regards to COVID-19 we have moved Cloud Security London Online.

Our first speaker is Rebecca Meads, not only is Rebecca the reigning champion from the quiz at our last meetup (we hope she's enjoying her Ring Camera), she's also a Cloud Security Architect at 6point6 and when she approached us about this talk it was something we thought would make a great session!

We are also very fortunate to be joined by Mark Nunnikhoven as our second speaker. He will be sharing a really exciting talk on The Unicorn Project through a security lens. Mark is a sought after speaker, AWS Community Hero and Security thought leader. In his day job, he is VP Cloud Research for TrendMicro. We're really excited to hear both of these talks and look forward to you all joining us virtually on 6th May.

Talk Details

Title: Detecting MITRE ATT&CK Techniques Using AWS

Abstract: Implementing a security operations centre for the cloud can be a daunting and overwhelming task. Your SOC is trying to write use cases to detect attacks for every project your business has, how are we going to monitor the cloud as-well? In this session I talk through an approach to getting started using the MITRE ATT&CK matrix and some AWS native tools.

Bio: Rebecca is a security architect at technology consultancy 6point6, she designs and implements secure architectures in AWS.

Title: The Unicorn Project Through A Security Lens

Abstract: The Unicorn Project is the latest book from Gene Kim, one of the leaders of the DevOps movement. The book focuses on developer enablement and culture. What does this have to do with cloud security? Everything.

The cloud is an amplifier. It lets teams do more with less. This innovative and fast-paced approach creates a mountain of security challenges that need to be addressed.

Understanding modern development is key to addressing those challenges.

But what if security teams can adopt these principles as well? Can we dramatically improve our security outcomes and fix some long standing problems with how we approach security?

This talk examines cloud security through the lens of The Unicorn Project’s five ideas for developer enablement. The goal? Helping you better understand development within your organization, to streamline your security practice, and make your life as a security professional a whole lot easier.

Bio: Is this system safe? Is my information protected? These are hard questions to answer. Mark Nunnikhoven works to make cybersecurity and privacy easier to understand.

A forensic scientist and security leader, Mark has spent more than 20 years helping to defend private and public systems from cybercriminals, hackers, and nation states. A sought after speaker, writer, and technology pundit, his message is simple: secure and private systems are a requirement in today’s world, not a luxury.
