Real-time IoT for Geospatial Applications on Kubernetes (at scale)

Details

Hi Stackers and Hackers.

We've got an absolute treat in store for you. Come meet an IoT / Geospatial expert who is using Kubernetes to create amazing maps and other awesome microservices for their customers. This is a REAL end user story! Don't miss it!!!

AGENDA:

6:30 - 7:00 Networking incl. snacks (Beer/Za) (veg & gluten-free options)
7:00 - 8:00 Awesome Presentation
8:00 - 8:30 Q&A and Networking

ABSTRACT:

This session will explore how to Esri was able to establish a foundational Kubernetes operating environment for data management and stateful applications to enable their customers with the ability to configure IoT geospatial applications. This includes consuming high velocity IoT data using Apache Kafka, performing streaming & recurring batch analytics using Apache Spark, and high-volume storage / querying of spatiotemporal data using Elasticsearch. Additionally, Esri will share their experience in how to make their stateful microservices running in Kubernetes resilient to failure.

BIO:

Adam Mollenkopf is responsible for the strategic direction Esri takes towards enabling real-time & big data GIS capabilities in its ArcGIS platform. Most recently he has been focusing on applying these capabilities with the Internet of Things. Prior to joining Esri, Adam worked as a Strategic Technologist at FedEx implementing a variety of critical real-time tracking systems.
