Hi Everyone!

We want to welcome the community BACK TO IN PERSON Meetups! We will try and do this monthly as long as we can find venues to host.

For our first get together on the Peninsula (in 2 years! Wow!) we are teaming up with our friends in the awesome DoK (Data on Kubernetes) Community again to host via our 2 user groups.

On August 18, Intuit has kindly offered to host our user group in their Mountain View campus. Join us at 6:00pm for beer and pizza in the courtyard, and at 6:30pm for our featured presentations! Oh, and I'll have a handful of goodies, including some t-shirts to hand out during the networking reception! :) :) :)

FEATURED AGENDA - 2 Talks

Talk #1

  • Druid powering AI at Intuit

Shrivardhan Rao - Software Engineer - Intuit

At Intuit we collect Operational data (open telemetry traces, metrics, events) at scale to perform real time analytics and streaming anomaly detection. To provide a rich user experience on the data we collect and the insights we publish in real time, we run Apache Druid on K8s. This talk will discuss about how we deploy and scale Druid on K8s. We will also touch on strategies employed for HA, upgrades , performance testing and showcase real use cases.

Key takeaways:

  • Mechanics of running a time series database on K8s
  • Strategies for AuthN, AuthZ and HA

Talk #2

  • Life in the Herd: Cloud Native ClickHouse

Robert Hodges - CEO, Altinity

Of all services, databases are perhaps the most resistant to the cloud native cattle-not-pets model. So what does it really mean to run a large database on Kubernetes? Using ClickHouse as an example, we'll discuss the changes from software packaging to operational management and learn how mission-critical databases find true happiness in a cloud native world.
