October 2018 - IaaS in the Cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Details

Daniel Colon will be our presenter for October. His notes for this session:

Infrastructure as a service is one of the three fundamental cloud service models. It is usually the easiest and quickest way to migrate a traditional hosting of an existing application into the cloud.

During this presentation I will go over IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service). I will explain how on-premise networking maps to the cloud. We will then walk through setting up a Virtual Machine (VM) in AWS, Azure and GCP.

The deck and deploy/demo instructions used in this session will be available on the Cloud NH Github repo (https://github.com/CloudNH/meetups/).

Audience:
Developers, architects, and networking professionals interested in learning about IaaS offerings from different public cloud providers. Technical decision makers and product planners thinking about moving existing applications hosted on-premise to the cloud.

Skills/Pre-requisites:
No IaaS experience necessary. Some experience with networking will be helpful, but not required, to understand technical concepts.

About Dan:
Daniel has expertise in infrastructure, internet technologies, and systems integration obtained through 20 plus years of working as a manager, architect and developer on projects for mission critical back end systems that have included various cloud platforms such as SoftLayer, AWS and Azure. He has taught various courses at Northeastern University including ASP.NET, C#, and XML Web Services. He has various certifications including A+, Security+, MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure.
