Details

The Heinrich Boell Foundation Israel (HBS), the Israel Public Policy Institute (IPPI) and the Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) are pleased to invite you to the workshop and networking event.

The event “Accelerating Cleantech Commercialisation - Key Measures For Impact” will bring together relevant stakeholders in Israel’s cleantech ecosystem including start-ups, corporations, investors, academia, government and civil society organisations to
(1) learn from the latest research about the Israeli cleantech innovation ecosystem;
(2) discuss challenges and concrete solutions to accelerate the commercialisation and scaling of Israeli cleantech;
(3) develop a roadmap for moving forward, boosting investments and policies for cleantech innovation.

Speakers at the event will be:

  • Dr. Diana Süsser, IPPI Visiting Fellow from Germany
  • Gil Shaki, Senior Director of Energy, Sustainability and Infrastructure, Israel Innovation Authority
  • Ayelet Ben Ami, Adv., Ministry of Environmental Protection
  • Beny Cohen, Professional Director, The Israeli Green Building Council

Background: The earth is on fire, putting our future at risk. The science is crystal clear: we need to act NOW to mitigate severe impacts of anthropogenic climate change. Agenda 2030 (Sustainable Development Goals) and the Paris climate agreement call for sustainable infrastructures and technologies as well as climate-smart investments to drive technological-economic and social-cultural transformation. Innovation in zero-carbon and cleantech is crucial to achieve inclusive, prosperous, climate-resilient societies founded on circular, zero-carbon economies. Yet, the potential and opportunities of cleantech are not fully exploited and more ambitious actions are required to leverage the scaling and commercialisation of cleantech for the benefit of people and the planet.

Guiding questions of the workshop are:

  • What are key mechanisms to boost financing of cleantech pilot and full-size projects? How can they be implemented?
  • What are the most effective actions the government should undertake to support the commercialisation and scaling of Israeli cleantech?
  • How could an enhanced collaboration among the stakeholders of the Israeli cleantech ecosystem be designed?
