About us
ClubMoss is a Western New York group for folks interested in all things natural sciences, with a focus on conservation, ecology, and botany.
This group is meant as a place for people to come together and further their knowledge of the natural world (and perhaps even, advance greater research and conservation causes, should the opportunities arise!).
Possible events might include:
- iNaturalist Bioblitzes, where folks come together to help document plants and wildlife in an area
- Specific identification events (flower, tree, bug, moss, etc.), for members to practice ID skills and using various resources
- Focused hikes relevant to members' areas of interest (interested in a specific biome, a weird family bugs?, let the group know!)
- Member talks to share what people have been learning
- Nature/landscape/botanical art/painting/sketching meetups
- Volunteering
- Conservation organizing??
- and more???
ClubMoss will focus on creating a collaborative, relaxed, low-stakes environment, with events focused primarily on active member participation.
ClubMoss is named after clubmosses, a neat kind of ~~non~~vascular plant... that's... about all I know about them right now! [edit: wait, they are vascular!]
