Eldora Nordic: yes, they charge a lot. Yes, you have to get there early because of the downhill skier traffic. Yes, they seem rather slow about grooming everything. But the draw is the terrain: it is a very fast and fun trail system. Eldora is probably the most vertical nordic center in the state -- with 1,400 feet in total elevation gain -- and has some of the most (if not the most) challenging groomed trails as well.

In order to participate in this event you must carefully read the following in its entirety, read all updates posted in the comments, and reply promptly to all direct messages from the tour organizer.

Their trail map is here. Our route is here. You are required to know the distance and elevation gain of the route.

Daily trail passes are $40 on-site, or $35 if purchased online (before the day of your ski). There is equipment available for rent.

Note that 9:00am is our aspirational ready-to-ski time; get there beforehand if you have to prep or rent equipment. It is recommended to aim to arrive by 8:30am (if not earlier) due to possible traffic.

As far as skill level, for this tour you must be an "experienced beginner" nordic skier (for more information on what this means see Somewhat arbitrary nordic ski skill levels), and you will be challenged by parts of the route.

You must have an intermediate level of aerobic/physical fitness -- i.e. be "in pretty good shape" by Colorado standards -- at a minimum (for more information on what this means see Aerobic / physical fitness requirements).

If you have any questions about your ability to do the tour from a fitness or skills standpoint just message the organizer directly.

For current conditions see the comments thread. Note: please do not post your opinion on conditions or the terrain unless you have recent facts specific to the location. If you decide not to come there is no need to tell the rest of us why you don't think it's going to be fun.

All attendees must be signed up here as Meetup members, which also means minors cannot attend the event. If the tour is full exceptions can't be made to add more people.

If you have "somewhere I need to be" after the event note that our end time is an estimate we won't modify the outing in any way to accommodate you.

Do not expect any messages sent the morning of the event to be seen.
